Description
Crispy and flavorful Lemon Pepper Wings made in the air fryer, inspired by Wingstop’s famous recipe. Perfectly seasoned with zesty lemon and cracked black pepper for a delicious snack or meal.
Ingredients
2 pounds chicken wings, split into flats and drumettes
1 teaspoon baking powder (aluminum-free)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 tablespoon lemon zest (from about 1 medium lemon)
2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
Instructions
Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
In a large bowl, combine baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and onion powder.
Add the chicken wings to the bowl and toss them thoroughly to coat evenly with the seasoning mixture.
Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they are not overcrowded. Cook in batches if necessary.
Air fry the wings at 400°F (200°C) for 20 to 25 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through cooking, until they are golden brown and crispy.
While the wings are cooking, prepare the lemon pepper seasoning by mixing lemon zest, freshly ground black pepper, and granulated sugar in a small bowl.
In another small bowl, combine the melted butter and freshly squeezed lemon juice.
Once the wings are cooked, transfer them to a large mixing bowl. Pour the lemon butter mixture over the wings and toss to coat evenly.
Sprinkle the lemon pepper seasoning over the wings and toss again until well coated.
Serve immediately while hot and crispy.
